Supercharge Your Social Media Marketing on Twitter with Formulists
Managing your social media marketing efforts doesn’t have to be massively time-consuming. Especially when you can learn some tricks, combine those with killer tools, and add some efficiency to the process.
A week or so ago, we wrote a post listing 7 Creative Uses for Twitter Lists. The last two items on the list are both Twitter lists that could be curated and maintained manually.
Well, have we got a little treat for you. Want to cut down the time it takes to manually curate and sustain your lists? (insert sly smile). Of course you do. Or, as Shelly is prone to so eloquently say “Doiiiiiiii.”
This really cool Twitter tool called Formulists, might make your life even more dreamy than you thought.
When it comes to Twitter, many people want to regularly share great content and also be efficient in the process. Formulists, a free tool that will automatically generate various Twitter lists for you, based on numerous pre-built options. Sweeeet!
We’ll share with you one of the ways we use Formulists, which might help you think of ways that you could use this tool too.
Paying Back Generosity
People who regularly RT the content that we share on Twitter and other social mediums are doing us a huge favor – and paying us a wonderful compliment. We appreciate that and want to reciprocate. We use Formulists to automatically create lists of those friends who frequently RT our “stuff” and use those lists to return the favor.
Vetting New Followers
We manage not only our own internal social media accounts, but those of clients, too. We use Formulists to automatically categorize all new followers so that it makes the process of manually vetting them (and weeding out annoying spammers) fairly simple and efficient.
Want to know more? Here are some specific instructions to walk you through the process.
Using Formulists to Monitor Who Retweets You Most Often
- Visit Formulists and login with O-Auth
- Choose “Add Lists”
- From the display list options select “Strengthen Social Ties”
- Within that sub-set you will opt for “Track Your Most Loyal Retweeters”
- Click “Add” and you will be presented with various configuration options for the newly created list. This is your list so set it up in a manner that benefits you most.
- Once created import this new list into Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, Seesmic or any other Twitter desktop app that allows you to import your created lists and you will be able to easily stay in touch with those who retweet you most often. What better way to “thank” a RT than RT’ing something they shared in their stream?
Use Formulists to Manually Vet and Welcome New Followers
While we recognize, understand and respect that some people chose to auto-follow their new followers, we also acknowledge and identify with those who want to manually vet (and maybe even welcome) their newest followers.
The new Twitter layout has some shortcomings with the design. Or at least we think so. It is somewhat restrictive in the display of user information of those who follow you. That’s where Formulists can help. It can facilitate keeping track of the newest followers until you have the required time to review and manually approve them.
Here’s how. Once you are signed in to Formulists and at “Add Lists:”
- Choose “Track Followers”
- Select “Track and Greet New Followers”
- Select “Add” and configure as you desire
Once you have this list set up (we advise to set it as private) it’s very easy to review the list, visit the user profile and process the “new user filters” you have defined for yourself. It’s also very easy to add this follower to any of the other Twitter lists you have created.
Once logged into Formulists, you’ll find that the two scenarios we described above are only two of the many, many options you can apply and execute with the free service.
Have you used Formulists? If not, does this post make you want to? We hope so!!
And, if you’re already using Formulists, we’d love to know how you’re using it. The only thing better than writing about social media marketing tools and tricks and making community building more efficient and effective is learning about them from others. So please share your secrets. There might just be a cupcake reward in it for you, if you do.
