Vlogging – It Just Gets Easier!

Little Girl With Camcorder

Okay, so in an effort to practice what I preach when it comes to marketing consulting in general and pretty much life as well, I found the nerve a few weeks ago to begin video blogging or, vlogging, as the cool cats say. And you know what, I’ve quickly learned that it’s not so bad all. In fact, it’s become such a way of life around my home/office/family that they don’t even put up much of a fuss when I thrust the FlipCam in their hands and/or when I drag them into the video.

Kris Colvin and I both love Famers’ Markets, so once I got started on the video craze, we created a YouTube channel to showcase not only our “hauls” from our weekly visits to the markets, but to feature the finds of others as well. We’re spreading the word amongst our foodie friends and enticing them down the path of vlogging, too. Go ahead, you know you want to — subscribe!

This past Saturday, I not only managed to drag my daughter, Katherine, to the Farmers’ Market with me, but I managed to lure her into a special guest appearance on the weekly video. The Watermelon Margarita that I forced on her before the appearance might have helped, but no matter, she was fantastic and I’m sure she’ll be back for more.

Bottom line, if you’re not yet vlogging, and want to, just get started. It gets infinitely easier, I promise. The important thing – quit expecting that you’ve got to look movie star perfect every time you vlog. None of us look like that in real life, so just get out there in front of the camera and be yourself. I’m pretty sure we like you just as you are in “real life” so don’t try to be something you’re not when the video camera is on. Once you get past that hurdle, it’s infinitely easier.

Here’s me and my cutie pie, Katherine. And before you ask, I’m not sure how she managed to get either so tall or so beautiful – and we haven’t even talked about how flipping smart she is! I’m one lucky momma.

More than a talking head — a thinking, cooking, drinking, marketing Mom head! Great job.

Thanks Landa. Now we need to get you a gravatar so that we can see your gorg mug when you comment on blogs. Thanks for stopping by – and for the kindness.

Thanks baybe. The drink is tasty, although I have to say, I preferred the vodka version. Recipe is linked here for you, just in case you get adventurous.

    Loved it. Watermelon/vodka. Hmm.

Hilarious! How DID she get so much taller than you?! I love these videos – and I cannot wait to try your watermelon margaritas! I downloaded the recipe – thanks for sharing it!

  • ShellyKramer

It must be all that chicken I fed her when she was little and I didn't know better that was pumped full of steroids, Gini.

She's such a good sport – she doesn't know it yet, but I'm going to force her to do that more often :))) I've told her that she needs to start blogging, but so far no go on that one. Maybe a nudge from a “trusted friend” will help more than momma nagging (hint hint).

Let me know if you try the margs … the vodka was really better, but try them both and let me know what you think. Pretty tasty!!

  • ShellyKramer

Triple yummmmm, Alex. I'll make them for you guys some time. Maybe.

  • ShellyKramer

Come on over, Diana …. any time!!!

  • ShellyKramer

They are super good, Erin. Now, if only it was a tad bit cooler on Saturday mornings – it would make the Farmers' Market infinitely more enjoyable. Sigh.

Ok, I will admit it, I laughed thinking I actually knew something you didn't (about the watermelon) guess growing up on a farm was useful after all. :-) I am totally trying the recipe but only with vodka, not a tequila fan myself. Saved it to my OneNote along with the lime margarita recipe you posted a few months back.

You know a MILLION things (at least) that I don't know …. the watermelon thingie is the least of them, girl! LMK how you like the drinkie poo. It's delish.
