Vlogging – It Just Gets Easier!
Okay, so in an effort to practice what I preach when it comes to marketing consulting in general and pretty much life as well, I found the nerve a few weeks ago to begin video blogging or, vlogging, as the cool cats say. And you know what, I’ve quickly learned that it’s not so bad all. In fact, it’s become such a way of life around my home/office/family that they don’t even put up much of a fuss when I thrust the FlipCam in their hands and/or when I drag them into the video.
Kris Colvin and I both love Famers’ Markets, so once I got started on the video craze, we created a YouTube channel to showcase not only our “hauls” from our weekly visits to the markets, but to feature the finds of others as well. We’re spreading the word amongst our foodie friends and enticing them down the path of vlogging, too. Go ahead, you know you want to — subscribe!
This past Saturday, I not only managed to drag my daughter, Katherine, to the Farmers’ Market with me, but I managed to lure her into a special guest appearance on the weekly video. The Watermelon Margarita that I forced on her before the appearance might have helped, but no matter, she was fantastic and I’m sure she’ll be back for more.
Bottom line, if you’re not yet vlogging, and want to, just get started. It gets infinitely easier, I promise. The important thing – quit expecting that you’ve got to look movie star perfect every time you vlog. None of us look like that in real life, so just get out there in front of the camera and be yourself. I’m pretty sure we like you just as you are in “real life” so don’t try to be something you’re not when the video camera is on. Once you get past that hurdle, it’s infinitely easier.
Here’s me and my cutie pie, Katherine. And before you ask, I’m not sure how she managed to get either so tall or so beautiful – and we haven’t even talked about how flipping smart she is! I’m one lucky momma.
