Thanks for smiling. I guess what I meant to say is sell what is in it for the client, what is in it for the client's bottom line---that's the sizzle.

I think Twitter is just going thru some teething problems. I think they will do some more deals with a partner like Google. It will probably in advertising. Evan is an intelligent guy just needed to partner with some more business minded people, where would the The Woz be without Steve Jobbs and vice versa.

Life is about partnerships and the bottom line (double bottom line if you include relationships), and these will impact the business at Twitter.

I find the "sizzle" of twitter the education I am getting in marketing! This is SO much easier than trying to get a mention in a national magazine! And, because my market is moms and teachers, I believe that at least I will hit a good deal of my target audience through twitter.

In the 6 weeks I have been doing it (with NO education and only reading a few etiquette rules) I have managed to connect with some AMAZING women. Scholars, entrepreneurs, execs, writers, etc.

I have connected with an interesting agency and will be getting set up seamlessly shortly. And I could NEVER have done this without twitter.

Besides, I love the steak and the sizzle.

The "sizzle" is actually becoming more socially engaged with people. Not the specific use of social media, although that can certainly help facilitate that goal.

I like to help small business owners understand that the sizzle of social media might not just be increased sales. It can also be a new channel for communicating with customers and prospects. For example, a local musician is discovering that there are fans of his that want to communicate with him through MySpace only and not email. He needs to adapt to that.

Another sizzle is to spy on your competitors. Social media is a great way to do research. Many of my clients never really thought of it that way. Once they open up their minds to the multiple uses for social media the light goes on.

I see the marketing sense here, and am wondering.. as per this exerpt:

"The sizzle is the benefit. People buy benefits, not products or services. Because everyone wants to know what’s in it for them! Especially in this economy."

Because personally, regardless - I'll _buy_ products that are beneficial to the ___desired_utility___.

So, are you rehashing the ol "the consumer buys the packaging, not the product," mantra? or did I miss something? :-)

smiling,
~Omar
